Being able to analysis the wider property market as a whole, my strategy then changed and I focused on buying below market value property with very high rental yields – that no one else seemed interested in! With that and my focus on the niche market in Durban’s CBD,  I have successfully built up my personal property portfolio together with having bought and sold over 50 properties

During my 16 years at Remax Panache, I have learnt several techniques such as – how to create a Bargain, which properties to buy and hold for capital growth, which to renovate and  flip/sell and which to hold forever and leave to generations after me to enjoy

It was on a flight back to London that I read the book Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki that my passion for property started and made a huge impact on my life and career path. By age 25, I had just bought our 2nd property in the UK (London)

After an 8 year stint in London, I decided to return home with my French wife to sunny South Africa where my intention was to buy, renovate and resell properties as a full time occupation. The challenge was that after working with many estate agents for 12 months, no one could show me or introduce me to a suitable bargain or good investment property, so to be closer to the action I decided to become an estate agent myself (shock) and joined Remax Panache,  part of the world’s largest real estate company.

Having grown up in Durban I love everything on offer here, from the outdoor lifestyle, beaches and the big 5 game reserves up the coast, to the melting pot of different cultures and friendliness and genuine smile of everyone that calls Durb’s home.

Durban is an African City and I enjoy the buzz and energy the people bring. From sitting at my local coffee shops on the beach front, to trying new trendy start ups within the city, to sharing a Shisa Nyama  over looking the harbour or a sundowner from the roof top bars or DUC harbour entrance to tucking into a spicy bunny chow, to exercising along our world class beach front promenade, it’s obvious that Durban Rocks!

Being fortunate to be able to travel to 34 countries whilst in the UK, I feel qualified enough to rank KwaZulu-Natal right up there as one of the best provinces I have experienced and feel privileged to be able to live, work and play here.

When taking time off, around the middle of the month I like to head up to the Zululand Game Reserves and volunteer as an Honorary Game Ranger, or fly-fishing and hiking in the Natal Drakensburg. I also find gratitude in giving back in community projects with the Round Table Association. I love the exposure international travel gives me and a goal is to travel to a new country every year. A braai after the Sharks rugby game at the stadium is also a favourite.

For 16 years I have been striving to make a positive impact on Durban’s real estate market by being very involved with a hands on approach – improving one property at a time.
